Hits and Misses

I have never been a particularly strong writer. Throughout my years of school I have noticed that I have excelled in maths in sciences. I see myself as a more analytical thinker and it's harder for me to be an abstract thinker when I am writing. Blog posts are probably one of my most challenging works this year in English. Aside from them being due every Monday. I feel that we are presented with a rather small topic and are required to stretch it out into two strong paragraphs. These posts are most likely easy for many people, but for some reason I find them difficult. The literary analysis we worked on this year I saw as one of my best works of writing. Since I was retelling a memory in vivid detail and I could look back and just tell my story just how i remembered it. It required less abstract writing than most papers and I found it less difficult. Dear 13 Year Old

Thirteen years old can be a crazy and difficult time in a young persons life. Congrats!! You are a teenager now! Turning thirteen means a first for a lot of things, good or bad. During school it is about the time you have to start being a little less dependent on people to get your work done. I feel that becoming a teenager also changes the way you look at life each and every day. This is about the time where fantasies start to fade away and realization starts to come into play. Try to enjoy the change rather than think of it as something negative and just remember that everyone was thirteen once and they probably went through the same things you will go through.

Winter Short Story

Juan and Ricardo are twins, both at the age of fifteen. These boys are from Mexico City, Mexico on a foreign exchange trip. The twins have never been on a plane before and have never traveled to the States before. When they heard about the foreign exchange program with a school in Baton Rouge, Louisiana they were eager to sign up. After Juan and Ricardo's parents were finished signing the permission slip and the check the boys grabbed their plane tickets and were heading to Louisiana. Both boys were very scared about getting on the plane, having it be their first time ever seeing one. After a few hours the boys had arrived in Baton Rouge. When they landed the school was greeted by their family they would be staying with for the next two weeks of their trip.
